My Current Haircare || Favourite Essentials

Shampoo & Conditioners
I love to try out new shampoo & conditioner sets and often do but I ALWAYS end up coming back to John Frieda Sheer Blonde. It smells great, protects blond hair and is a affordable salon brand. I normally buy the standard sheer blonde but this time I came across the colour renew tone correcting one and decided to give it a go as it is a purple shampoo designed to target the brassy bits of blonde in your hair and turn it into a lovely creamy blonde colour. Don't know about your hair but when my colour is due at hairdressers it always seems to turn a bit brassy/orangey toned...yak! I really loved using these as it made my colour stronger & brighter. I also love the conditioning treatment and use this twice a week, leave it on for 5-10 minutes and it leaves my hair silky smooth & soft....this could easily be mistaken for a much pricier hair treatment in my eyes.  These are sold in Boots (£5.90 each), Superdrug & Asda but I tend to either buy them in Boots in their 3 for 2 deal or Asda have them sometimes 3 for £10 so you can get the mask with both these deals for free.

I first came across the Touch of Silver hair care range when I was reading a magazine and Lydia from TOWIE had a "My beauty regime" page and mentioned these optical brightening shampoos because at the time she had really platinum blonde hair.  They are only £2-3 in boots, and I tend to use these when my colour is due to eliminate the brassiness and it helps with the fading and dullness of blonde hair.  One is a daily maintenance shampoo designed to help get rid of all the product build up in your hair in between washes.  I tend to use this one every other day as I don't wash my hair everyday as it doesn't need it.  It also had Sunflower Seed Extract in to help protect against damage, whilst the optical brightener boosts shine.  I like the consistency of these as it is thick and lathers up really well on your hair with a small amount.

Hair Masks
The two ultimate Lee Stafford products I absolutely adore has got to be the Hair Growth Treatment & The Hot Shots 4 Blondes.  I think I decided to buy these two about 6 month back as my hair was becoming more brittle and noticed more split ends.  First of the hair growth treatment.....it describes it "a protein based complex to fertilize your follicles, creating a healthy environment on the scalp to help hair grow faster and reach its maximum potential length, with Pro-Growth complex for strength from within".......now who doesn't want longer hair right? I honestly think using this and hair oils has helped my hair grow faster, but also think using this as just a hair mask on its own (without the growing positive) is worth it because firstly it's a mask which instructs you to put it all over your hair (even on roots, without making them greasy) and secondly it leaves my hair feeling so soft, nourished and easier to manage, and really calms down my frizz.  I also think my hair feels stronger because of this beauty...I would definitely recommend it! I love this mask so much that when Boots had a 3 for 2 offer on I picked 2 of these mask pots and for a third freebie I decided to choose the Hot Shots 4 Blondes.  The hair growth treatment mask is normally £7.99, and the hot shots for blondes usually £7.49, so I got a good bargain! The Hot Shots are really good too...I like how they are in little separate packets for when your hair colour is in need of that pick me up (they also do for different hair colours not just blondes) however I don't think I would buy these separately if they weren't in the 3 for 2 deal as unfortunately I think my cheaper Touch of Silver Shampoos above do the same job for restoring my colour.

Hair Serums/oils
I was using Moroccan Hair oil and absolutely loved it...but unfortunately when it ran out I couldn't afford to buy it again at the time so bought these too serums/oils instead.  The Frizz Ease "3 day straight" serum is a dream...I put it on towel dried hair before blow drying and it combats all my frizz (trust me I sometimes look like I have a bit of an afro when I dry my hair) and also I find I don't have to straighten my hair after blow drying like I normally do...and it also keeps my hair straight until I next wash it...Bonus! I will definitely be repurchasing when I run out.  The hask argan oil I picked up in Primark for £2.50 as I had heard it was a bit of a cheaper alternative to the Moroccan Oil.  I find it does just as good of a job...and has this lovely orangey smell to it which I adore.  I will also be repurchasing this too.  And finally....I just wanted to mention my love of the tangle teezer....I've had this brush for about a year but could not live without it now....it gets rid of all my twisted knotted up hair without pulling it out and doesn't hurt like some of the other brushes I've used, it's easy to grip from the shape of it, and small enough for your bag...plus it looks cute! It's £10.99 in boots lovelies :)

Let me know what you think of any of these products...if they work for you or not or if you thinking about buying them.

FOTD || MAC Benefit Rimmel MUA

Hi guys, thought I would write my first FOTD (Face Of The Day) post to show what makeup I had picked out to use. So...I was getting ready to meet for something to eat at the pub and decided to be a bit daring and wear a really bright stand out lipstick....something I rarely do.  So I decided to keep the eyes nice and simple to let the colour of the lipstick really pop.  I also felt my skin needed a bit of a pick me up as it was looking quite dull so I mixed my foundation with my MAC strobe cream which give me this really nice dewy look-think Millie Mackintosh's foundation look.  These are the products I used:

  • Nivea Primer
  • Real Technique Stippling Brush
  • MAC Strobe Cream
  • MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation - Shade NC25
  • MAC Studio Fix Powder - Shade NC30
  • MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural - Shade "Medium Deep"
  • MAC Pro Longwear Concealer - Shade NC30
  • MAC Lipstick - Shade "Impassioned"
  • MAC Cream Colour Base Highlighter - Shade "Pearl Frost"
  • MAC Eyebrow Pencil - Shade "Spiked"
  • Benefit They're Real Mascara
  • MUA Eye shadow Trio - Shade "Innocence"
  • Rimmel Lip Pencil - Shade "Indian Pink"
  • Max Factor Cream Blush - Shade "Soft Pink"

Let me know what you guys think....

OOTD || Primark & Asda

I was shopping the other day and got a few bits for quite a bargain so thought I would share them with you...

The cream blazer was originally £19 in Primark but was on the clearance rack yesterday for £5...bargain! I was quite lucky too because I already had in mind I wanted a light blazer to go with jeans instead of always wearing jackets/coats and was about to pop into h&m or Zara for one before I spotted this one so I was very happy indeed :)

The cream pixie top with the sequinned collar is from Asda at £10 which I think is really good as the material is quite thick, and can be dressed up or down.

The jeans were also from Asda which were £14...really like them as they are skinny jeans but have stretchy material and they can be rolled up at the bottom.

Have you collected any bargains recently? Let me know!

BodyShop Nutriganics || Night Cream & Eye Cream

After trying to perfect my face cleansing routine I decided I really needed to buy a eye cream as I'm getting lines around my eyes and I have kind of neglected this part of my face. I knew I wanted something with all natural ingredients and to be gentle on my skin...so what better shop than the body shop right? As I was browsing the store I was originally looking at the vitamin E range as I had heard many good reviews from other blogs on it. A assistant offered to help and I asked her if the vitamin E eye cream would suit what I was looking for. She said it was a good cream but all of the assistants in the store were using this new Nutriganics range as it had 98% organic ingredients in.

The other major plus is that in the eye cream it has light reflecting particles in to enhance the eye area to cover dark circles and dull skin. She basically said it not only was a moisturising eye cream it also had the same job as concealers etc to hide dark circles/tired eyes...this sold it for me! I also bought the Nutriganics nourishing night cream to go with it as I usually just put my normal day moisturiser on at night.

I can say I have definitely noticed a difference in both my eye area and skin off using these two products. Skin feels a lot smoother, more hydrated, has took the dryness away, and my eyes look brighter. Definitely worth a buy and would get them again :) The eye cream was £14 and the night cream £6.

Hope this post was helpful...let me know your views on these and any other body shop products that are great too as I want to buy more from there!

Feel Good Sunderland Event || Blogger

Feel Good Sunderland

On Saturday 27th April I attended the Feel Good Sunderland in Sunderland City Centre and there was three different parts to it.  Want to especially thank Katy (girlinthenorth.com) for taking time out of her busy schedule for showing us all round the three different areas even though she was helping organise the whole Feel Good event!  It was also a chance to meet some fellow bloggers in the North East including Shannon (dimpletodimple.blogspot.co.uk), Libby (gingerbreadbuttons.com), Beca (thosemomentsofserendipity.com), Aileen (jellybeancloud.com), Katie (beautyandthebaker.blogspot.co.uk), and Amy (midasflorence.blogspot.co.uk). The first part was in the Bridges Shopping Centre with the focus on Health and Fitness.  We watched Armageddon Fit Training Academy (www.armageddonfit.co.uk) running their boot camp to show people the kind of exercises they did. There was also various stalls set up in this area including The Little Black Dress Club (www.thelittleblackdressclub.co.uk) which won UK Personal Trainer of the Year 2012, University of Sunderland City space, Sunderland City Council, and Youth for Christ.
Next we headed to The Minister which was holding all of the relaxation stalls and we were greeted by Liz from Inspire Holistics who gave Reiki treatments to calm and relax you.  Here’s a few pictures of the other bloggers indulging in them! Find them at www.inspireholistics.co.uk.

The final place we headed too was the Museum & Winter Gardens where they stall inside on everything to do with beauty, hair, skin and jewellery, and was stalls to get temporary tattoos so it was great fun!  There was a semi-permanent makeup stand Yemanya (can follow on twitter @Yemanyaspmakeup) which create semi permanent natural looking eyebrows, eyes and lips.  And another favourite stand of mine was the NYR Organic (www.uk.nyrorganic.com) and they sell the most gorgeous organic beauty creams, oils, gels and balms to make your skin super soft.  They have also won various awards- most recent one Beauty Insider’s Choice 2012.  Here' are some pictures.

All in all it was a fun filled girly day and a fun way to get involved and meet other bloggers! And also great success for Sunderland as a lot of the time it doesn’t get recognised as it’s not the biggest city in the North East.

Well done Katy for it running smoothly and thanks for letting me tag along.  Also the goodie bag was lovely!

NOTD || Barry M Gelly Nail Colour "Lilac"

On my way to Feel Good Sunderland Event (will be putting a full blog about this) I couldn't resist having a cheeky look in Boots and Superdrug for some essentials I needed topping up. I bought Garnier soothing eye make up remover because I noticed my cleanser wasn't enough to get all my mascara off and was making my eyes really sensitive and sore. This is great though as its for sensitive eyes and has no alcohol, perfume or colourants in it.

I also bought Johnsons cleanser as its a simple soothing cleanser as I was sick of using skin care in the past specifically for oily/problematic skin because they made my skin so dry! I also re purchased the Avene eau thermale spring water (I love this separate blog to come), a re purchase of dry shampoo for days when greasy hair just won't do! I also bought my first Real Technique brush (I know probably the last person ever in the blogging world) and will try out the stippling brush soon as I've heard so many great reviews on it :)

Now onto the Nails...I have got quite a lot Barry M nail polishes and think they are great but decided to buy the Gelly one in Lilac shade to give a try.... I will definitely be buying more of the Gelly range as the first thing I noticed was how quickly it dried even with two coats and how lovely and shiny it was, also think the shade is a lovely pastel spring/summer shade great for day or night time.

Let me know if you like any of these or any other shades in the Barry M Gelly range that are lovely.

Mini Benefit Haul

Hi everyone hope you are ok, back in February I kept seeing Benefit's "the Pore fessional" pro balm which everybody was raving about, and "They're Real" mascara which was 100% proven to give the effect of false eyelashes in magazines and adverts everywhere....so I went to the Benefit counter in Debenhams and told the make-up artist what I wanted and she did my full make-up and recommending what would be good for my face tone etc....and this is what I bought...

Benefit's "They're Real" Mascara

Although I don't normally like big fat brushes for mascara (I couldn't get away with Benefit's "Bad Girl" mascara years ago) for this reason, this brush is not too big as I have smallish eyes and when using this it does not get mascara all below my eyebrow.  Anyways....as you can see from the pictures I think this mascara is a holy grail product (even at £18.50) as it totally transforms my eyelashes to look as though I am wearing false ones, the mascara doesn't cake on the eyelashes giving that clumpy effect, and every time I wear it I instantly feel much better as it gives me that wide awake look.  In fact, I have tried a LOT of mascaras (some cheap, some expensive) and think this is the best, definitely worth the price tag! :) It stays on all day, doesn't smudge and doesn't budge when in the shower or swimming, just make sure you use a good eye makeup remover as it does cling on. I think it gives fabulous results!

The Pore fessional Pro Balm

I had read so many reviews about the pro balm and how great it was but I was worried before I bought it that it would make my dry skin worse however this is a great primer for make up but also it is oil free, lightweight, translucent as you can see from the swatch, and feels super silky and just glides onto the skin.  It’s as if you can feel it just soaking up any oily-ness from your skin and can feel it tighten.

Benefit “Coralista” Face Powder Blush

Benefit Post 1            Benefit Post 2

I love bright blushes, especially as we are heading into summer soon and my favourite shades are definitely pinks and corals.  Whilst the girl was doing my make-up on the counter she recommended this blush and said it suited my face tone lovely.  I think it is a gorgeous colour (sorry for the swatch it looks bolder than what it is) but also this has a gorgeous subtle shimmer to it (not glittery as I hate that) but a lovely sheen shimmery frosty finish.  I adore this blusher.

THIS IS ME WEARING ALL THREE PURCHASES

Nivea Express Hydration Primer

I  just happened to come across this primer when I was in Superdrug the other day as previous primers (some high brand) had left me with dry flaky skin.  I must say this is one of the best primers I have ever used, and it’s an absolute bargain at £4.99! It only takes a minute to sink in and my make-up lasts all day.  It is light based gel that absorbs instantly so you can apply make-up straight away.  It states it moisturises your skin with effective hydrators and vitamins for long lasting hydration and provides an even and smooth base for make up application.  The brilliant thing is too I was looking for a primer as essentially my skin was dry, but this bargain beauty not only works great at a primer but also as a moisturiser too! Even when I have not been wearing make up too stay in the house I have been putting this on and really makes my skin nice and smooth and shine free.  I cannot say enough about this….I have even since went out and bought a couple of more jars :)
